Note: Hall lists the lettering and decorations as black, but we think this is a trick of the light. On a pristine copy viewed under ordinary light, the brown color is so dark that it appears black. With a little wear, or under the revealing light of the scanner, the color is seen to actually be brown (see image above).

Note: The lovely art deco picture on the front of the dustjacket is a colored version of an illustration originally done by Ray Coyle for the first American illustrated version of Jurgen (Jur-C1, 1923). In that book, the drawing is titled "For I See That Which All Men See".
