While there have been a number of articles on HM published in various literary magazines, this is the only full length monograph about her to be published to date. I have to say that I was not a fan of Swanwick's earlier monograph on James Branch Cabell, but I thought this work was much better. That opinion is by no means universal - some reviews have strongly objected to the paternalist and traditional viewpoint of the writing. It's not easy to find - I had this title on my ABE wants list for two years before a trade edition popped up, and it's only recently that I"ve finally found one of the 25 signed and limited copies. Temporary Culture only printed 200 trade copies, along with five lettered presentation copies and 25 signed and numbered copies in a special binding.
